Rupsa Bhattacharjee

A Post-Doctoral Associate Specialist in the Radiology and Biomedical Imaging Department, at UC San Francisco, Dr. Bhattacharjee is an imaging scientist with a primary interest in developing algorithms to improve the utility of MRI imaging as a diagnostic and prognostic tool. She obtained her doctoral degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2021 working on Susceptibility weighted MR imaging (SWI) in the human brain with tumors and acute ischemic stroke. In her current role, she specifically focuses on exploring the role of morphological and compositional MRI combined with PET, and machine learning algorithms to study imaging biomarkers of several musculoskeletal conditions such as knee and hip osteoarthritis. Her research attempts to understand of the complex pathophysiology of joint degeneration, knee and hip joint interactions, and the impact of gait biomechanics. She is also passionate about Musculoskeletal MRI developments at low-field economic (0.55T) scanners.
