Jilmen Quintiens
Jilmen Quintiens is a fourth-year PhD candidate at the Mechanical Engineering Department of KU Leuven. He holds a MSc degree in Biomedical Engineering from KU Leuven, with a thesis focused on the visual force estimation during minimally invasive surgery. Since then, his field of interest has shifted towards the field of bone mechanics and bone adaptation. His current work focuses on the use of Photon Counting CT in quantitative musculoskeletal imaging. In 2023, Jilmen fulfilled an international research stay at the McCaig Institute for Bone and Joint health in Calgary, where he worked on various projects concerning three-dimensional joint-space analysis and bone microarchitecture analysis. Besides his research, Jilmen is actively involved in the bachelor curriculum, both as a Teaching Assistant for courses in Applied Mechanics and as a member of the Program Committee of the Biomedical Engineering program.
